Festival Description : International Children's Film Festival India (ICFFI) also popularly known as The Golden Elephant is a biennial festival that strives to bring the most delightful and imaginative national and international children's cinema to young audiences in India. ICFFI is one of the largest and most colourful children's film festivals in the world. A unique feature of the festival is its audience: more than a hundred thousand children travel from little villages and towns from across India to view high quality international children's cinema that they would never be exposed to otherwise.
The festival was created by the Children's Film Society India, CFSI, an autonomous body functioning under the government of India and a prime producer of Children Content in India. CFSI has more than 250 features, shorts , Animation, Puppet & documentary Films in archive. With Motto of " A Child Rights to Entertainment" , every year CFSI organise approximately 12,000 to 14,000 free shows covering almost 3.5 to 4 million children for children in rural area, where theatres are not available.CFSI was founded soon after India's independence by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, whose affection for children is well known. Pandit Nehru established CFSI with the hope that indigenous and exclusive cinema for children would stimulate their creativity, compassion and critical thinking.
